About Tonbridge

Tonbridge is actually older than its near neighbour Tunbridge Wells, with parts dating back to Saxon times.  Centered around the Medway river, the town became important for agricultural and iron working and later a cattle market.

Today it is a bustling town with a good deal of sympathetic modern development taking place along the river edge.

Tonbridge railway station is a major hub in the network with direct services to London (about 40 mins) and also service to Ashford International.

The town has many excellent state and independent schools including Tonbridge School which is a particular landmark.  The area is part of the Grammar school system.
